You don’t have to be in a relationship. If your boyfriend is awful, leave him!

I believe that some people just love the idea of being in a relationship, but not really the person they are in a relationship with. It is like they like the idea of being with someone more than they actually like that ‘someone’. It’s funny because it’s kind of incoherent, but I promise you it’s true. Think about that one friend that you have whose boyfriend has cheated on her so many times that you can’t comprehend why she would still be with him, or that friend that is always getting screamed at and mistreated by their girlfriend. Every time you tell them that this doesn’t seem healthy, that it would probably be best for them to break up, they just say that they love them and would never leave their side. Well, I disagree. They do not love their partner. They are just so used to it that it is easier to just stay together for the sake of the relationship. It doesn’t matter that they are having an awful time together, that they even hate each other; they think that living like that is better than actually leaving their life as a single person. Because they do not know or don’t remember how to even be single. 

Like in the story below, we get another example of a girl who cannot seem to understand that her boyfriend is not good for her. He is using her family as ATMs just to get some cash to start another failed business that has “scam” written all over it. So why stay? Is it love? No! It’s never love. It’s the commodity of not facing what the world would be like “on your own”, and I put it in air quotes because they wouldn’t actually be alone, but they would be just single. I do not understand what the problem with people is about being single. It’s fine. You will find your person one day, but do not get stuck in a relationship that is not only damaging you but also your family just because it’s less scary than being single.
