‘I can’t deny the Cat Distribution System’: Tiny orange kitten rescued from a car engine charms his foster human in just 5 days, leaving them wondering if he’s already home

The Cat Distribution System doesn’t exactly give you much time to prepare. One day you’re happily living a cat-free life, and the next there’s a tiny kitten in your house sleeping on your shoulder like he’s been paying rent for years.

That’s pretty much what happened to Reddit user u/vandanamenon, who rescued a little orange kitten after he spent two nights hiding in car engines and crying in their parking lot. Now he’s safe inside, and there’s just one question left: should he stay?

We have a feeling plenty of accidental cat pawrents know how this goes.

Cats have a way of moving into your life surprisingly quickly. First, you’re just helping out a kitten who needs somewhere safe to sleep. Then you buy some food and a litter box. Then he curls up on your lap for the first time. Before you know it, you’re taking 47 pictures of him sleeping and explaining to everyone that you’re “just fostering.”

Sure.

This little guy is already making a strong case for himself. He’s cuddly, loves the roommates, and has apparently decided shoulders make excellent beds. He’s also getting into things he shouldn’t, but he’s an orange kitten. A little chaos was always going to be included in the package.

We also completely understand feeling overwhelmed. Getting a cat is a big commitment, especially when you weren’t planning on getting one that week. Luckily, nobody needs to make that decision five days in.

For now, he’s safe, loved, and getting a chance to settle in while everyone figures things out. If his rescuer decides they’re ready, he’s already home. If not, they’ll make sure he finds a good one.

Either way, this tiny engine-dweller has seriously upgraded his living situation.

And if those shoulder naps happen to turn his foster human into a forever pawrent? Well, the Cat Distribution System works in mysterious ways.
