Homeowner mowing 1.5-acre rural lot comes into conflict with neighbor’s 20-something-year-old adult daughters for disrupting their pool party next door: ‘ I’ve mowed my lawn every Saturday during the mowing season for the past 20 years’

A homeowner was blamed for disrupting his neighbor’s pool party, which he knew nothing about, while mowing his sizable rural property at the usual time.

Some homeowners do their yard work like clockwork. Out early, at the same time every weekend. A well-practiced weekend ritual. Mow the lawns, trim the hedges back, prune the trees. Then take care of whatever other routine maintenance needs handling.

Noises from this general maintenance of neighbors doing general maintenance of their homes are to be expected. You might hope not too early, not too often, and not for too long, but that’s not always a fair expectation to set. Some things just need to be done.

At least, this is what you mutter under your breath as your neighbor starts up his new battery-powered leaf blower yet again in a futile effort to render every square inch of his property spotless.
