‘I Was Never as Sick as I Became After the Medication’: Psychiatric Drugs May Be Worse Than the Illness Itself

I feel I would have been far better off had I never taken psychiatric medications, and I deeply regret ever using them. Once you fall under their influence, escaping them is remarkably difficult. I believe my current poor state of health is due entirely to these drugs. In the past, perhaps my illness was rooted in a lack of awareness and perspective; had I simply been given the chance to live with my condition without pharmaceutical intervention, I would be in a much better place today. Therefore, I strongly advise anyone going through psychological distress—no matter what it is—not to rush into taking medications. It is far better to wait and give your body and mind time to adapt naturally.

These drugs can end up being worse than the illness itself. I am actively trying to quit and have drastically reduced my dosages, yet I struggle immensely to sleep without them. At this point, I cannot even tell whether the symptoms I suffer from now are a result of my original condition or merely side effects of the medication.

Psychiatric medications are relatively modern, whereas humanity survived for ages long before they existed. How did people in the past deal with their conditions before these drugs existed? Surely, they were better off than someone flooding their brain and body chemistry with pharmaceuticals today; they adapted to their struggles over time. But with these medications, once you start feeling worse, breaking free becomes extremely difficult.

Do not even consider taking these medications; it is never just a passing trial. Every psychiatric drug carries a risk of addiction—not just psychological reliance, but a profound chemical habituation in the brain—making it a complete addiction from both a mental and physical standpoint.

One day, you will realize that something is terribly wrong, and you will desperately want to break free, but you won’t be able to. These medications might leave you far sicker than you were to begin with. Do you understand? So please, don’t even think about taking them. I wish I could rid myself of them completely. I have lost so much of my authentic self—my natural emotions, the genuine joy and happiness I used to feel without them, and my innate way of perceiving and experiencing life. Do not take them!
