outside the town of Ocean Beach, the house is located within a designated Coastal Erosion Hazard Area, which is an area with shorelines that are receding a foot or more per year, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/data.gis.ny.gov\/maps\/nysdec::coastal-erosion-hazard-areas\/about\">New York&#8217;s Department of Environmental Conservation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The property originally had a 1950s cart<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Due to flooding concerns, the house was lifted 10 feet (three metres) above the ground by wood pilings. The pilings go deep, stretching up to 35 feet (10.6 metres) below grade.<\/p>\n<p>Rectangular in plan, it has a boxy form that is broken up with elements such as overhangs and pilasters that
