In this roundup, we spotlight six key examples.<span id=\"more-2368491\"><\/span><\/p><div id=\"dev95-4250344201\" class=\"dev95- dev95-entity-placement\"><center>\r\n<script>\r\n  atOptions = {\r\n    'key' : '4ba6b6513c00e0ba76511f798ae56401',\r\n    'format' : 'iframe',\r\n    'height' : 50,\r\n    'width' : 320,\r\n    'params' : {}\r\n  };\r\n<\/script>\r\n<script src=\"https:\/\/www.highrevenueformat.com\/4ba6b6513c00e0ba76511f798ae56401\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n\t<\/center><\/div>\n<p>Published by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.park-books.com\/en\">Park Books<\/a>, the Meditations in Entropy monograph sees the architect recount his years focused on creating sustainable infrastructure for those who need it most with his studio <a href=\"https:\/\/kashefchowdhury-urbana.com\/\">Urbana<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t want to give service to people who have enough,&#8221; the architect told Dezeen.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t want to build highly secured personal private properties,&#8221; Chowdhury reflected. &#8220;Those who cannot afford an architect, I think they are in need of an architect the most.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My simple condition is I don&#8217;t want to design a building where people cannot just walk in.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Book conceived as a &#8220;cultural document&#8221; for research<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This dedication to creating shared community spaces is exhibited throughout Chowdhury&#8217;s book, which features 18 projects realised by the architect.<\/p>\n<p>Complimented by essays from architecture critic Kenneth Frampton and architectural historian William J R Curtis among others, the book presents each project as an independent case study.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I wanted to make this a cultural document,&#8221; the architect said. &#8220;I wanted to talk about not just the finished projects, but why we did it. This goes beyond low-carbon building, and also means ensuring affordability.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Project cost &#8220;very important part of sustainability&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For me, cost is a very important part of sustainability,&#8221; Chowdhury said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Many of our clients are NGOs and let&#8217;s say somebody who really needs a good building at a nominal budget, so we have to be very careful that we address all their needs within that given budget.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>With many of his projects in the geographical region of Bengal, designing in this way has led him to utilise and specialise in local materials such as load-bearing masonry walls. is a low-cost and remote medical institution composed of a series of low-lying brick pavilions, located in Bengal, southwest Bangladesh.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2022\/01\/25\/friendship-hospital-bangladesh-riba-international-prize\/\">Awarded the RIBA International Prize in 2021<\/a>, it was created for Friendship, a six-storey volume of this mosque, designed by Chowdhury to accommodate a large congregation on an urban plot in Dhaka.<\/p>\n<p>Informed by jali screens, its patterned, open-air facade draws light and hit Bangladesh in 2007, Urbana designed this concrete shelter to help mitigate the impact of future disasters.
