As former Republican Governors Association chair Chris Christie told Politico, &#8220;for the first time in 15 years, we could be in a position to lose a majority of the governorships.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>That loss would be an even bigger blow than losing Congress. Losing the House and the Senate to the Left is nothing to take lightly, especially if some of those candidates are aligned with the Democratic Socialists of America. But losing the states would be more consequential for Americans.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/foxnews.com\/politics\/democrats-think-blue-wave-building-3-forces-could-stop-it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>DEMOCRATS THINK A BLUE WAVE IS BUILDING. HERE ARE 3 FORCES THAT COULD STOP IT<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Governors rarely dominate the national news cycle, but few elected officials have more influence over the lives of American families.<\/p>\n<p>They oversee everything from education to public safety to infrastructure, and many control their state\u2019s budget \u2014 setting spending priorities and deciding which programs receive funding. Working with their legislatures, they set the agenda on the issues that touch individuals most directly.<\/p>\n<p>While Congress is inert, ineffective, and operating from the Imperial City, a governor shapes policies that reach into communities and neighborhoods.<\/p>\n<p>Right now, Republicans hold 26 governorships to Democrats\u2019 24. The GOP has held that majority since 2011. But it may slip away come November.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats\u2019 momentum began last fall when Abigail Spanberger flipped Virginia\u2019s governorship and Mikie Sherrill held New Jersey for her party. Just look at what Spanberger has advanced in Virginia with less than a year in office. She has revived DEI policies, backed an effort to bypass the bipartisan redistricting commission that the state Supreme Court ultimately struck down, and raised the minimum wage, making it harder for small businesses to keep up with rising costs.<\/p>\n<p>Thirty-six states will choose a governor on November 3, with Republicans and Democrats each defending 18 seats. Of the 14 states not holding elections, Democrats hold six and Republicans hold eight.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/foxnews.com\/politics\/rob-sand-biden-harris-iowa-governor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>IOWA DEM GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE SAYS HE WOULD NOT WANT BIDEN OR HARRIS TO CAMPAIGN FOR HIM<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/\/www.cookpolitical.com\/ratings\/governor-race-ratings__;!!PxibshUo2Yr_Ta5B!yLOqfMqETsOe8aOhQ5O6NVQVvk5NBwlZsx-vGEymyAVHLqygRuFOrZ5NcIVJfaRaD1TMG8sbAKA%24\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><u>Cook Political Report<\/u><\/a> , 13 of this year\u2019s races are solidly Democratic, including a few incumbents who\u2019ve got their eyes on 2028 presidential aspirations: Illinois\u2019 JB Pritzker, Maryland\u2019s Wes Moore, and Pennsylvania\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/foxnews.com\/politics\/shapiro-vs-trump-backed-garrity-set-high-stakes-pennsylvania-governor-showdown\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Josh Shapiro<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Arizona, Oregon, <a href=\"https:\/\/foxnews.com\/category\/us\/us-regions\/midwest\/michigan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Michigan<\/a>, and, most troubling for Republicans \u2014 Iowa \u2014 all lean Democratic. Iowa hasn\u2019t elected a Democratic governor in two decades but that could change this year as <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/rob-sands-chances-defeating-republican-zach-lahn-iowa-polls-12370608__;!!PxibshUo2Yr_Ta5B!yLOqfMqETsOe8aOhQ5O6NVQVvk5NBwlZsx-vGEymyAVHLqygRuFOrZ5NcIVJfaRaD1TMS1kVHKE%24\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><u>polls<\/u><\/a> show gubernatorial candidate Rob Sand leading his Republican opponent Zach Lahn. Republicans\u2019 best pickup opportunity is Kansas, where Democratic Governor Laura Kelly is term limited.<\/p>\n<p>Then there are the five toss-ups: Alaska, Georgia, Nevada, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Four of them are Republican-held, leaving Wisconsin as the only one Democrats are defending. Democratic Socialists already have their eyes on 2028, with Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/foxnews.com\/politics\/watch-aoc-wont-rule-out-white-house-bid-after-poll-names-her-democrats-top-2028-pick\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez<\/a> increasingly talked about as a potential presidential contender. In the face of threats emanating from DC, governors could be the ones standing between a socialist agenda and the rest of the country.
