Standing for \u2018Playable Teaser,\u2019 it was exactly that \u2014 a short demo of what was supposed to be the next <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ign.com\/games\/silent-hills\"><u>Silent Hill<\/u><\/a> game helmed by Hideo Kojima and starring Norman Reedus.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, due to Kojima\u2019s falling out with Konami, the title was scrapped and the demo wiped from the PlayStation store in 2015. And that\u2019s a shame, because it\u2019s one of the most terrifying games ever made. <\/p>\n<section data-transform=\"slideshow\" data-slug=\"pt-datamined-characters\" data-value=\"pt-datamined-characters\" data-type=\"slug\" data-caption=\"\"><\/section>\n<p>Luckily, a dedicated fan has worked tirelessly to make P.T. playable for those who either deleted it from their PS4s or who never got a chance to play it before it got nuked. A modder by the name LoreanXavier has revived the famous horror title on PC, and he says it\u2019s about 97% complete at the time of writing.<\/p>\n<p>The modder explained that this port isn\u2019t an emulator or a remake of the game from the ground up; on his official Discord server documenting the project, he explained that he is essentially \u201creverse-engineering\u201d the executable of the PlayStation 4, using the game\u2019s original assets, as well as C++ and Vulcan, to make a version of the title that plays on PC with a dedicated Windows program.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a 1:1 version of P.T., with the \u201csame house, original content and Lua scripts, loops, events, progression and ending puzzle.\u201d It even includes the game\u2019s voice-recognition section.<\/p>\n<section data-transform=\"ignvideo\" data-slug=\"how-pt-became-a-modern-urban-legend\" data-loop=\"\"><\/section>\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;ve played through it myself. The game hasn&#8217;t been turned into a different story or a new set of puzzles. Rendering is implemented for PC, and remaining graphical differences are being addressed separately. Optional enhanced graphics can change its appearance without changing the base game,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=n4xcCoUNYmI\">30 minutes of gameplay<\/a> for LoreanXavier\u2019s PC port is already available to view on YouTube, and fans are already begging him to make his code open-source in the event that his project gets copystriked when it eventually releases.<\/p>\n<p>But what\u2019s most exciting isn\u2019t the fact that people will get to play P.T. sometime soon; it\u2019s that Hideo Kojima himself retweeted an article from <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pt-pc-port-hideo-kojima-silent-hills\/\">GameRant<\/a> discussing the port, meaning that he\u2019s not only aware of it, but seemingly endorses its existence.<\/p>\n<section data-transform=\"ignvideo\" data-slug=\"is-od-connected-to-pt-hideo-kojimas-new-horror-game-explained\" data-loop=\"\"><\/section>\n<p>\u201cThe GOAT himself acknowledged my port. I am speechless. Seeing Hideo Kojima notice something I\u2019ve poured so much time and passion into genuinely means the world to me. Thank you so much,\u201d LoreanXavier <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/smokisevdalisi\/status\/2107122805862957081?s=20\">wrote<\/a> on Twitter\/X in response to Kojima&#8217;s retweet.<\/p>\n<p>Kojima is keenly aware of what his community gets up to online, and is almost constantly retweeting fan art of his games; and given that Silent Hills never got to see the light of day, it\u2019s probably refreshing for P.T. to get a breath of new life after a decade of languishing in the ether.<\/p>\n<p>Kojima&#8217;s next horror game, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ign.com\/games\/od-a-hideo-kojima-game\">OD<\/a>, is still in development.
