After unintentionally tapping into an online audience beyond her real-life students (Blogilates now boasts more than 11 million YouTube subscribers), Ho began designing her own activewear pieces to wear in her videos, and officially launched her label <a href=\"https:\/\/go.shopmy.us\/p-91828288\">Popflex<\/a> in 2016. A decade later, Popflex is one of the leading activewear brands in the space, known for viral designs like its <a href=\"https:\/\/go.shopmy.us\/p-91819417\">Cloud Hoodie<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/go.shopmy.us\/p-91819513\">Pirouette Skort<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In 2023, Shein took notice and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blogilates.com\/blog\/shein-stole-my-design-again-and-i-have-more-tea\/\">duped<\/a> Popflex\u2019s Pirouette Skort, a sheer tiered skirt concealing inner shorts. In response, Ho successfully patented her design. Just over a year later, Taylor Swift wore the Popflex skort in her \u201cI Can Do It With A Broken Heart\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Sl6en1NPTYM?si=-U__m-H8zKUgPkwm\">music video<\/a>; it sold out \u201cin a matter of minutes,\u201d according to Ho. With the patent, Ho was now able to protect the design against fast-fashion dupes that often arise when a product goes viral.<\/p>\n<figure><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/fashionista.com\/.image\/NTg6MDAwMDAwMDAwODAyNjQ5\/pirouette-skort-with-pockets-digital-lavender_2794-edited.jpg?resize=450%2C675&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"450\" height=\"675\"><figcaption>\n<p>Photo: Courtesy of Popflex<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIf I don\u2019t fight to protect my design, people are just going to walk all over me,\u201d Ho said during our conversation. \u201cSo it\u2019s a lot of emotional energy to deal with this, but at the same time, by fighting for my design, I also speak up for other independent designers who may not have the platform to speak about these things that happen all the time, unfortunately.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On The Fashionista Network, Ho also discussed solving for common activewear woes in her designs, testing Popflex\u2019s sizing guide on real consumers, launching Blogilates for Target in 2025, repurposing fast-fashion dupes of her designs and more.
