The Scandi label has permanently settled in SoHo at 25 Bond St., just down the block from Gwyneth Paltrow\u2019s Goop and Gigi Hadid\u2019s Guest in Residence.<\/p><div id=\"dev95-1847518367\" class=\"dev95- dev95-entity-placement\"><center>\r\n<script>\r\n  atOptions = {\r\n    'key' : '4ba6b6513c00e0ba76511f798ae56401',\r\n    'format' : 'iframe',\r\n    'height' : 50,\r\n    'width' : 320,\r\n    'params' : {}\r\n  };\r\n<\/script>\r\n<script src=\"https:\/\/www.highrevenueformat.com\/4ba6b6513c00e0ba76511f798ae56401\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n\t<\/center><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe didn\u2019t do a lot of research about the best city to do the first store in,\u201d Djerf tells Fashionista of the new flagship. \u201cIt\u2019s always about the gut feeling, and New York is such a special place for us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 29-year-old Swedish influencer, who launched Djerf Avenue with her fianc\u00e9 Rasmus Johansson in 2019, cites community events such as the brand\u2019s Guggenheim fashion show as an inflection point for her company, which did $36 million in sales in 2024.<\/p>\n<figure><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1012\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/fashionista.com\/.image\/NTg6MDAwMDAwMDAwODAyNjE1\/djerf-avenue-nyc-store-opening-15.jpg?resize=1012%2C675&#038;ssl=1\"><figcaption>Matilda Djerf<\/p>\n<p>Photo: Jamie Pearl<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Although a <a href=\"https:\/\/fashionista.com\/2024\/12\/gap-launches-gapstudio\">workplace harassment<\/a> scandal threatened to throttle Djerf\u2019s momentum, she managed to soften the blow by addressing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aftonbladet.se\/nojesbladet\/a\/qPeo6w\/anstallda-larmar-om-psykisk-terror-pa-djerf-avenue\">allegations<\/a> \u2014 including claims of \u201cbullying\u201d and a \u201cdegrading\u201d work environment \u2014 head-on. Acknowledging her shortcomings in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/12\/17\/style\/matilda-djerf-apology.html\">public apology<\/a>, as well as a series of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glamour.com\/story\/matilda-djerf-is-still-here\">interviews<\/a>, Djerf chalked it up to being a young, inexperienced first-time founder. Plus, Djerf Avenue\u2019s rapid pace of growth made it challenging to scale.<\/p>\n<p>With the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/djerf-avenue-announces-appointment-of-interim-ceo-nanna-hedlund-following-strategic-c-suite-expansion-302426326.html\">appointment<\/a> of seasoned retail consultant Nanna Hedlund as interim chief executive officer in 2025, the company promptly expanded its human resources department and created a work environment task force, allowing employees to submit anonymous surveys as feedback. Hedlund stepped down as interim CEO in February 2026 and now sits on Djerf Avenue\u2019s board.<\/p>\n<p>Djerf bounced back with a successful Selfridges pop-up in London a year after the expos\u00e9. Within hours of opening, Djerf Avenue purchases made up 70% of the floor\u2019s sales, outpacing even Kim Kardashian\u2019s Skims.<\/p>\n<figure><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1012\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/fashionista.com\/.image\/NTg6MDAwMDAwMDAwODAyNjE3\/djerf-avenue-nyc-store-opening-7.jpg?resize=1012%2C675&#038;ssl=1\"><figcaption>\n<p>Photo: Jamie Pearl<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Perhaps it\u2019s a testament to the quality of Djerf\u2019s products, which are produced in Europe (Portugal, Italy and Sweden, to be exact) and available in sizes XXS to 3XL at a mid-range price point. She successfully expanded the brand beyond clothing and accessories, introducing homeware and beauty products that bolster Djerf Avenue\u2019s mission to serve as a \u201cbig sister\u201d to its customers.<\/p>\n<p>This thread also runs through the new NYC boutique, which Djerf said is staffed with employees familiar with the sizing, fit and fabrication of each item.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a consumer myself \u2014 I\u2019ve shopped in so many stores \u2014 the level of expertise [among sales associates] can look very different,\u201d Djerf explains. \u201cSometimes you walk into a store and you don\u2019t really feel welcome. That\u2019s something we absolutely do not want, and it\u2019s something we learned very quickly with our pop-ups. I wanted to bring Scandinavia to New York but I don\u2019t want it to feel so cold and minimalistic that you\u2019re scared to sit on the couch.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1012\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/fashionista.com\/.image\/NTg6MDAwMDAwMDAwODAyNjE2\/djerf-avenue-nyc-store-opening-9.jpg?resize=1012%2C675&#038;ssl=1\"><figcaption>\n<p>Photo: Jamie Pearl<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The layout of the store, rendered with help from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaparchitecture.com\/about\">LEAP Architecture<\/a>, was primarily designed by Djerf herself and takes inspiration from her island summer home in Sweden. (Think warm woods, lots of natural light and high ceilings.) The shop is also decked out in the brand\u2019s best-selling hand-painted prints in the form of decorative drapery and upholstery.<\/p>\n<p>The boutique is stocked with pieces Djerf Avenue fans know and love, such as its best-selling line of <a href=\"https:\/\/go.shopmy.us\/p-91809021\">Go Slow<\/a> pajamas and ready-to-wear staples like the <a href=\"https:\/\/go.shopmy.us\/p-91809116\">Weekend Blazer<\/a>. Shoppers will also be treated to a selection of in-store exclusives, including playing cards, reusable water bottles and yellow cab keychains.<\/p>\n<p>Teaming up with local vendors was an integral part of Djerf Avenue\u2019s pop-up strategy, a tradition that the new store is upholding. For opening weekend, Leon\u2019s Bagels and Bluestone Lane returned to serve up strawberry bagels and matcha (a nod to the brand\u2019s popular Summer Berries collection). Such collaborations are expected to be a consistent feature of the flagship.<\/p>\n<p>With <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/real-estate\/commercial\/malls-were-left-for-dead-now-they-are-the-top-performer-in-commercial-real-estate-0bf6100f\">brick-and-mortar retail<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/fashionista.com\/2026\/05\/in-person-brand-event-strategy-launchmetrics-report\">in-person brand experiences<\/a> on the upswing, now felt like the perfect time to start building out Djerf Avenue\u2019s physical footprint.
