And Google actually thinks Apple&#8217;s arrival in the category could be a good thing. <\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve been waiting for a foldable iPhone for years, but it&#8217;s finally no longer a dream. Apple is opening pre-orders for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/phones\/apple-iphone\/the-iphone-duo-is-here-and-it-will-convince-you-to-buy-a-foldable\">iPhone Duo<\/a> next month, and as expected, the company&#8217;s entrance into the category is expected to shake things up. <a href=\"https:\/\/counterpointresearch.com\/en\/insights\/global-foldable-shipments-to-hit-100-million-cumulative-milestone-by-end-of-2026\">Counterpoint<\/a> even believes Apple could capture around 25% of the foldable smartphone market within a year of the iPhone Duo&#8217;s launch. <\/p>\n<p>So technically, Google and its Android partners should be worried about Apple jumping into the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/best-foldable-phone\">foldable phones<\/a> market, right? Apparently not. In fact, Google believes Apple&#8217;s arrival could be beneficial for the entire category. <\/p>\n<p>Android president Sameer Samat sat down with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tomsguide.com\/phones\/android-phones\/googles-android-president-on-apple-iphone-duo-android-is-usually-where-you-see-the-future-first\">Tom&#8217;s Guide<\/a> this week to talk about the foldable market and the iPhone Duo. More importantly, he believes a larger foldable market will finally give developers more reason to properly optimize their apps for bigger folding displays. <\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s one area where Apple already appears to have an advantage. The company showcased apps like Netflix and Slack properly optimized for the iPhone Duo, while some of those same apps on Android foldables still look like stretched-out versions of their regular phone interfaces. <\/p>\n<p>Samat, however, believes Apple&#8217;s entrance could help change that.
