All that yellow \u2013 that\u2019s me hanging on to summer! I keep <a href=\"https:\/\/www.101cookbooks.com\/flaky-pie-crust\/\">pie dough<\/a> in the freezer, especially this time of year, for impromptu tarts and pies, and because of that, this tart came together in no time. Highly recommend.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/images.101cookbooks.com\/GOAT-CHEESE-TART-RECIPE-v.jpg?w=1280&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"goat cheese tart with peppers, scallions, and herbs on a plate\" style=\"width:620px;height:auto\"><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Why This Tart is So Simple<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This isn\u2019t a custard tart. It\u2019s simply a market tart, where ingredients are piled onto a rolled-out piece of dough and baked once until deeply golden. You don\u2019t have to par-bake the crust, and you don\u2019t have to worry about the filling setting before the crust gets too dark. The process is a lot like making homemade pizza. Add your favorite toppings and bake. They have a little bite and add a fantastic zip to whatever you\u2019re making \u2013 tart, pizza, salad, etc. Swap in another pepper you enjoy if banana peppers are elusive. I picked up some gorgeous, mild Cornito Giallo peppers the other day as well \u2013 or<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>even a yellow bell pepper would work! Can you use the pickled banana peppers in jars? Sure! They\u2019ll be tangier than fresh peppers, but equally fun to experiment with on tarts like this one.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><strong>Zucchini Blossoms<\/strong>: Grab a few if you see them. They\u2019re so special and beautiful, and I cut them into ribbon-like flecks here. If you can\u2019t find them, just add another herb you like, or another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.101cookbooks.com\/edible-flowers\/\">edible flower<\/a> \u2013 nasturtium or basil flowers would be nice!<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><strong>Herbs<\/strong>: I opted for chives and basil, but if you can imagine another herb working well with goat cheese, by all means, go for it.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><strong>Goat cheese<\/strong>: I like using creamy, spreadable cheeses for tarts like this one. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.101cookbooks.com\/labneh-recipe\/\">Labneh<\/a> is another favorite in this sort of tart.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/images.101cookbooks.com\/GOAT-CHEESE-TART-RECIPE-2.jpg?w=1280&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"goat cheese tart assembled before going into oven\" style=\"width:620px;height:auto\"><\/figure>\n<h2>Shaping the Tart<\/h2>\n<p>The whole goal with a tart like this one is minimal fuss. And this includes shaping. You can bake it in a plan if you like but more often a free-form shape is in order. You can fold over the edges of your dough into a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.101cookbooks.com\/sourdough-galette-with-delicata-squash\/\">galette<\/a> shape, or do what I\u2019ve done here \u2013 fold the edge of the pie dough onto itself and then do a deep crimp using the thumb and pointer finger on one hand and the pointer finger on the other \u2013 see photo above.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/images.101cookbooks.com\/GOAT-CHEESE-TART-RECIPE-3.jpg?w=1280&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"goat cheese tart with peppers, scallions, and hers on a plate\" style=\"width:620px;height:auto\"><\/figure>\n<p>I skipped the freezer step on this one (above), and you can see the issue.
