Accordingly, because you have failed to comply with the Committee\u2019s requests, the Committee is serving compulsory process,&#8221; he wrote in separate letters to Fairfax County Commonwealth\u2019s Attorney Steve Descano and Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty, both obtained by Fox News Digital.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/foxnews.com\/media\/hochul-boasts-banned-new-york-outlaws-local-police-partnerships-ice\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>HOCHUL BOASTS &#8216;I JUST BANNED IT&#8217; AS NEW YORK OUTLAWS LOCAL POLICE PARTNERSHIPS WITH ICE<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Your office\u2019s lenient treatment of foreign national criminals endangers communities and ensures that criminal aliens escape both criminal and immigration accountability for their actions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Jordan&#8217;s committee has for weeks investigated district attorneys who have been accused of taking immigration status into account when pursuing criminal complaints, even when the alleged crime has nothing to do with the suspect&#8217;s legal status.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/foxnews.com\/politics\/doj-opens-investigation-soros-backed-da-accused-shielding-illegal-immigrants-from-consequences\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>DOJ OPENS INVESTIGATION INTO SOROS-BACKED DA ACCUSED OF SHIELDING ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS FROM CONSEQUENCES<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Descano, in particular, has recently made headlines after the stabbing death of 41-year-old U.S. citizen <a href=\"https:\/\/foxnews.com\/politics\/soros-backed-da-accused-going-easy-illegal-immigrants-gets-squeezed-house-gop\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stephanie Minter<\/a>, whose accused killer came to the U.S. illegally from Sierra Leone in 2012. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/politics\/executive\/homeland-security\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Department of Homeland Security<\/a> (DHS) said the man had been arrested over 30 times before Minter&#8217;s killing.<\/p>\n<p>Descano, who has led the Fairfax County Commonwealth\u2019s Attorney\u2019s Office since January 2020, issued plea bargaining guidance that year saying prosecutors should &#8220;consider immigration consequences where possible&#8221; and consider &#8220;the collateral immigration consequences of the specific crime(s) the defendant is charged with,&#8221; according to local outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/wtop.com\/virginia\/2026\/05\/dept-of-justice-investigating-fairfax-countys-top-attorney-over-handling-of-cases-involving-immigrants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">WTOP News.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/foxnews.com\/politics\/soros-backed-das-lax-illegal-immigration-policies-led-preventable-bus-stop-stabbing-murder-complaint\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>SOROS-BACKED DA&#8217;S LAX ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION POLICIES LED TO &#8216;PREVENTABLE&#8217; BUS STOP STABBING MURDER: COMPLAINT<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Descano&#8217;s office told Fox News Digital in response to Jordan&#8217;s subpoena, &#8220;We are disappointed by the Committee\u2019s needless escalation of this matter, part of a partisan siege on Fairfax County residents and their values that does nothing to improve public safety.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For the last eight months, CA Descano has engaged in good faith with the House Judiciary Committee\u2019s inquiries, providing over 1,100 pages of documents as well as voluntarily testifying to answer the Committee\u2019s questions. We will continue to respond to legitimate inquiries from the Committee,&#8221; the office said. &#8220;Despite this political sideshow, the office remains focused on keeping Fairfax County one of the safest large communities in the country.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Dougherty recently lost his Democratic primary campaign to be attorney general of the state of Colorado.<\/p>\n<p>He told <a href=\"https:\/\/boulderreportinglab.org\/2026\/05\/20\/house-committee-targets-boulder-sanctuary-policies-demands-records-from-local-officials\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Boulder Reporting Lab<\/a> in May that Jordan&#8217;s probe was &#8220;political theater that ignores serious failures within the federal immigration system.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The city of Boulder issued an ordinance in January 2017, after President Donald Trump was elected, directing government employees not to work with federal immigration authorities or &#8220;inquire into a person&#8217;s immigration status.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Boulder and Fairfax counties are known as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/doj-sues-connecticut-new-haven-over-sanctuary-policies-open-defiance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sanctuary jurisdictions<\/a>, meaning local law enforcement is not bound to cooperate with federal immigration authorities.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/foxnews.com\/politics\/watch-soros-prosecutors-hearing-devolves-angry-chaos-illegal-immigrant-rape-case-quiet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>WATCH: SOROS PROSECUTOR\u2019S HEARING DEVOLVES INTO ANGRY CHAOS OVER ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT RAPE CASE: &#8216;BE QUIET!&#8217;<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jordan&#8217;s probe is being conducted alongside Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/foxnews.com\/opinion\/rep-jim-jordan-rep-tom-mcclintock-democrats-think-overrule-laws\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tom McClintock<\/a>, R-Calif., who chairs the Judiciary panel&#8217;s subcommittee on immigration enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan previously told Fox News Digital that he would not rule out subpoenas if the district attorneys did not comply with Republicans&#8217; requests for information.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s a process we always go through.
