align with current safety standards and improve its performance against increasingly extreme weather and rising sea levels.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.benthemcrouwel.com\/\">Benthem Jongtien told Dezeen.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The significance of the Afsluitdijk is huge on many levels. Afsluitdijk is one of the most notable examples, separating the IJsselmeer lake from the Wadden Sea.<\/p>\n<p>Benthem Crouwel has been developing its revamp since 2018 with construction company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bam.com\/en\">BAM<\/a> and contractor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanoord.com\/en\/\">Van Oord<\/a>, alongside investors <a href=\"https:\/\/rebelgroup.com\/en\/\">Rebel<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.invesis.com\/\">Invesis<\/a>. reinforced the entire length of the structure with 75,000 interlocking concrete blocks called Levvel-blocs and raised it by two metres.<\/p>\n<p>The blocks are arranged in a deliberately symmetrical additions is the series of six pumping stations, housed in four-metre-high domes.
