On My Stolen Freedom: A Cry from the Heart of Israeli Restraints Under the Collective Punishment Targeting My Palestinian Identity

The racist policies of the Jews harm all Palestinians. Although most Palestinians may not feel the impact of these policies to the same extent that I and a specific segment of the population do, they strip away our freedom and increasingly complicate our lives. Must they harm me directly for me to be affected? The psychological framework they impose on us in the West Bank permeates the feelings of all Palestinians. I want freedom in my homeland—a freedom I deserve and the most natural right I should possess.

I cannot move freely within my country, whether in the areas theoretically permitted to me or across the broader map of my homeland. Do they believe this land belongs to them and not to me? It is my home, my world; I want freedom within it! The reality we live in this homeland is not what you watch on news broadcasts. You might not understand what is truly happening—you must come and live among us to comprehend!

The Jewish occupation is malicious and cruel. Merely because individual Jews might tolerate me or act peaceably toward me in routine matters within this land does not mean I will turn a blind eye to the evil, racist reality they enforce across my country. I have been deprived of visiting my favorite places in my homeland for two years; I have not even seen my country’s sea because of them. Even within the areas where we are permitted to be, they harass me and all citizens constantly throughout these past two years!

The practices of the Jewish occupation do not stem merely from security motives, law enforcement, or sovereign control. Rather, they appear as savage acts driven by vengeful souls that take pleasure in inflicting harm upon the people of my homeland. They harm everyone through a systematic collective policy—perhaps in an exchange of spite and hatred—without any regard for wisdom or rational conduct. Is all of this the product of mutual hatred? Does everything done by a government—which is expected to exercise wisdom in its governance and decisions—stem from its hatred toward me and this people, operating within a cycle of mutual animosity and seeking to inflict maximum harm upon me?

Whether I or others remain peaceful, holding a different vision for what occurs in this land, a vision for peace and wisdom to break out of this vicious cycle of hatred, and a belief that there is no valid reason for this cycle to continue, they simply do not care. Merely because your identity is Palestinian, you are punished like everyone else. This is a vindictive system aligned against everything Palestinian, regardless of an individual’s nature or differences. All paths have been blocked, and malice and harm are directed toward all that is Palestinian.

These Jews display racist tendencies against everything Arab from a young age—it is not limited strictly to Palestinians. When one faces racism in Israeli territories, one is not called a “Palestinian,” but rather “Arab” as a term of contempt. Is this not common knowledge?

To all of them, the Arab identity represents a foundational target for racism. Do not believe the Israeli media apparatus that attempts to portray the Jewish people as peaceful, loving, and seeking companionship with Arabs. Beyond such rhetoric, the reality is that the mainstream social framework across the entire Jewish society in Israel instills a hatred of Arabs from childhood.

For the sake of my freedom—which lies in establishing justice, peace, truth, and wisdom, and in silencing evil voices and putting an end to their cruelty in my homeland—cursed be the occupier in the very house where I was born. I will never abandon this pursuit as long as the Jewish occupation continues its evil and heinous savagery. This land is my home, from its furthest south to its furthest north, in justice, freedom, and equal rights for all!
