The Canon EOS R7 Mark II is the most anticipated camera in the EOS R lineup. Canon has refreshed its entire full-frame lineup over the last couple of years. While we already see EOS R5 Mark III details out there, it’s a safe bet we won’t see the next iterations of the EOS R1 and EOS R5 Mark II anytime soon.
EOS R7 Mark II
We reported back in April, after many false reports about when to expect it, that it was not coming in 2026, and we still don’t believe it is. Occasionally, an announcement timeframe and a shipping timeframe can cause confusion, making an announcement in mid-December with a ship date in January technically possible. However, we think that is highly unlikely.
Q1 2027
We received information from a fairly reliable source. This source has remained anonymous for years and has been correct more often than not. We have been leaning into this hypothesis for a while now, as a launch ahead of CP+ in late February, for what is bound to be a huge seller, makes logical sense.
Know Anything More?
We heard from one other source who didn’t know the exact announcement window, but they mentioned that the EOS R7 Mark II will be a “massive” step forward for Canon’s APS-C lineup.
I think after the “retro” EOS R8 Mark II talk over the last few months and seeing what it turned out to be (yes, Canon did say there was retro influence), we have to remain cautiously optimistic.
